The Untold team entered uncharted territory when engaged to build an augmented reality (AR) rapid iOS prototype. The app presented a time-to-concept challenge that was too intriguing to pass up.
AR Visualization in iOS
The aim of the app was to help people visualize physical exercise quickly and easily. By demonstrating the individual motions of basic exercises, barriers to physical fitness would be removed and users would become far more active than they would have otherwise.
Through AR, the user utilizes their mobile phone’s camera to create a real-life, visual backdrop for the simulation. The app then projects a humanoid animation that demonstrates the proper technique for the chosen exercise.
In less than a week, the Untold team came through with a fully functional iOS app using ARKit. The next phases of the prototype were taken internal, but Untold still supports the app throughout iteration.
